(Yicai Global) June 21 — American tech giant Apple is recalling 63,000 MacBook Pros in China whose batteries are liable to overheat.
Apple Computer Trading Shanghai began the recall of the 15 inch Retina model made in mid 2015 yesterday, the State Administration for Markets Regulation said the same day. It will replace the batteries free of charge.
There have already been six cases of the laptop overheating, according to the Apple’s filing. The California-based firm has not received reports of any casualties or property damage but admits the problem could cause burns.
Apple shipped 4 million MacBooks in the first quarter, down 2.5 percent from the 4.1 million a year earlier to give it a 6.8 percent market share, according to research from Gartner and International Data.
