(Yicai Global) May 21 — DJI Technology has refuted a US cabinet department’s report that suggests that the Chinese drone maker’s products may be sharing sensitive consumer data with the Chinese government.

DJI’s drone data is completely controlled by its users, the Beijing News reported, citing the Shenzhen-based firm.

China-made drones may be sending sensitive flight data to Chinese manufacturers, and the Chinese government can access this data, the Department of Homeland Security said in a report released yesterday.

DJI has always attached great importance to information security, and the technical security of its products has been repeatedly verified globally, including by the US government and leading US companies, the Chinese news report added.

Clients may also choose the Local Data Mode in order to stop internet traffic, as well as store their data on a private cloud, the firm added.

DJI’s global market share was almost three-quarters last year and that in the US and Canada was almost 80 percent, according to a report from US Skylogic Research.
