Information Security Industry Zone Opens in Hainan

(Yicai Global) May 14 — Local authorities in Sanya, the capital of China’s southern Hainan island province have officially opened a zone dedicated to the information security industry, initially home to 36 companies covering the chip, IT system product and information security sectors.
Sanya Municipal government and state-owned China Electronic Corp. jointly built the 800,000 square-meter industry base, local newspaper Hainan Daily reported, adding that the zone serves as a national-level demonstration park and a platform form the integration of military-civilian innovations.
Once the project is fully completed, it will become China’s first strategic base for network security and play host to a network of high-end training services for Hainan, Yan added.
Emerging technologies can assist with the future development of the city, said Yan Chaojun, party secretary of Sanya. The city is actively constructing an industrial structure supported by tourism, new technology sectors and tropical agriculture to create new economic growth drivers.
