(Yicai Global) May 16 — The United States has set up a Belt and Road working group as more American companies show interest in taking part in “One Belt, One Road” projects. By setting up the working group, the US is showing an increased interest in collaboration with China, commented The Wall Street Journal.

The US Belt and Road Working Group, set up with the participation of the US Embassy in China and a group of interested American companies, will help the companies integrate into the Chinese initiative to get their share from a wide-range of infrastructure projects.

“Throughout the lifecycles of relevant projects, American companies will be able to provide the most valuable products and services,” said Matthew Pottinger, special advisor to the US President and senior director for East Asia at the US National Security Council, during the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing last weekend.

“They have a long and proven track record in the global infrastructure construction market, and are ready to participate in Belt and Road projects,”Pottinger said of the US companies, China Youth Daily (CYOL.com) reported online.

The US embassy in China and the American companies formed a working group dedicated to the Belt and Road initiative as the coordination platform for China-US cooperation in Belt and Road projects, said Pottinger reportedly.
